To the delight of the children attending Tuscaloosa's Airshow this past May 8-9-10,Storm,Sand,Clone Troopers,Imperial Officers,Jedi,X-wing Pilots,Princess Leia;invaded their airspace. Voted the top entertainment in the TV Stations poll,the 501st and Rebels were both humbled and greatly surprised that they won the poll.
Trooping the static lane,the chalet area as well as the vendor areas,the Costumers entertained the young and young at heart on Saturday and Sunday. Posing for hours with people taking photos,the 501st Alabama Garrison and their Rebel counterparts Tranquility Base of Alabama trooped for the kids,the military and charity.
When interviewed,their response to questions like "Why are you here?" "Why do you dress up in Star Wars costumes?" Their replies were....."We do this for charity,we do this for the kids. There is nothing like seeing the excitement on the younglings faces when they spot their favorite TK,or Pilot,Jedi,Princess."
These people are a rare breed,they spend a lot of money on costumes,they troop for charity. They are the the Knights of good deed and charitable appearance.
So,next time you see a Storm Trooper,or a Vader,Imperial Officer,Pilot from the Empire. Or a Jedi,Princess,Senator,Pilot from the Rebels,don't be shy;have a photo taken with them. Enjoy the moment,the magic the force.
